ESAB Canada, the Canadian arm of the world’s leading welding company, operates a 65,000 ft2 distribution center managing some 30,000 SKUs for customers across fabrication, shipbuilding and agriculture. Rapid growth and an old paper-based host system — which limited parts to single locations and caused inventory mismatches and order carryovers — created an urgent need to automate the warehouse to maintain service levels and support doubling revenues.

The company implemented TECSYS’ WMS with barcode/RF scanning, five pick zones, carousel storage, cycle counting, lot control and seamless integration with the corporate BPCS host and shipping module. The result was much faster order fulfillment, better than 99% picking and inventory accuracy, reliable same-day shipping, improved receiving/cross-docking and full traceability of who did what, when and where — delivering higher productivity and happier customers.
