Continuum-Dynamics, Inc. used Tecplot 360 to tackle the challenge of building the first commercial ship air wake database for U.S. Navy helicopter flight simulators. As a fluid mechanics and dynamics research firm, CDI needed a practical way to model the complex, time-varying disturbance field around ships without relying on expensive, hard-to-scale traditional CFD methods.

Using Tecplot 360, Continuum-Dynamics was able to visualize, analyze, and verify CFD results more effectively, helping the company develop a high-fidelity air wake database with lower grid densities and reduced computing cost. The result was a more realistic simulator environment for Navy helicopter training, improved pilot safety, and a database covering 190-plus permutations that could be integrated into training systems such as the MH-60R simulator.
