Hillsborough Community College, a Tampa-based community college with a growing American Sign Language (ASL) program, faced the challenge of supporting many remote students with varying levels of technical skill. Instructors and learners lacked a simple, reliable way to record, submit, and review video assignments, which hindered peer collaboration and effective feedback for online ASL courses.
The college implemented TechSmith Relay to let students record and upload videos and instructors to give timed, detailed feedback while peers review one another’s work. The solution made submission and assessment convenient and reliable, expanded the ASL program’s reach across Florida and beyond, strengthened the learning community, and was quickly adopted and praised by both faculty and students.
