Québec Launches Distance Learning and Encourages French Language Education For Immigrants

Quebec’s Ministry of Immigration faced the challenge of helping an increasingly diverse influx of newcomers learn French and integrate into Quebec society while promoting shared civic values. To reach learners before and after arrival—and to accelerate access to employment and community life—the ministry needed scalable, high-quality language and cultural training that worked across many countries and situations.

Using Technomedia’s Learning & Development platform, the ministry launched “Francisation en ligne,” offering advanced and intermediate French courses supervised by Quebec tutors and including modules on employment, education, public services and democratic life. The program won multiple awards, registered nearly 2,000 learners from 54 countries in its first year and now serves over 5,000 people annually in 80+ countries, delivering satisfaction and success rates comparable to classroom instruction and expanding access to French training both abroad and in Quebec.
