Video helps fire department answer the call for training while maintaining full area coverage

The City of Bend Fire Department in Bend, Oregon needed a way to keep firefighters trained and EMT certifications current without pulling crews away from five strategically placed fire stations and slowing emergency response times. The department turned to Technology Integration Group (TIG) for a video-based training solution that could deliver high-quality remote instruction across the city’s network.

Technology Integration Group recommended and installed Cisco TelePresence QuickSet systems, including a QuickSet C40 in the training center and QuickSet C20 units in outlying stations. The new setup dramatically improved video and audio quality, allowing firefighters to follow training more effectively while staying at their home stations, preserving full area coverage and reducing response delays; the system also helped maintain certifications more easily and was later used for other city meetings and government touch-base sessions.
