A Tebra Case Study
Medical Billing Unlimited (MBU) is an El Paso–based billing company serving 260 providers—about 60% solo practitioners and 40% group practices—that was struggling with increasingly complex payer rules, frequent claim denials, rising patient deductibles (often $2,500+), and growing bad debt on patient statements. These trends made timely payer reimbursement and patient collections difficult, creating a pressing need for more efficient, accountable billing and reporting processes.
MBU migrated all clients onto the Kareo integrated platform (billing, EHR, Engage, telemedicine and analytics) within six months, centralized reporting and workflows, and adopted features like auto-posting ERA and one-button eligibility checks. The change cut time to generate a full financial report from ~3 hours to about 30 minutes, reduced average days in A/R from ~40 to 35 (with a goal near 30), increased point-of-service collections, and provided enterprise-level visibility to support future growth.
