How Teamwork Projects helps Brigham Young University to provide world-class e-learning courses

Brigham Young University, a large private university serving over 33,000 students, faced growing demand for online courses but struggled to estimate costs, timelines, and track the many contributors involved in course production. Ryan Beckstead and his Multimedia Services Department found communications scattered across email and WhatsApp and creative staff reluctant to log hours, so they adopted Teamwork, using Teamwork Projects (Enterprise) to centralize task lists, files, conversations, and time tracking.

Using Teamwork Projects, the team created reusable task templates, started logging hours reliably, and used Board View, Portfolio, and API integrations to monitor progress and compare projects. Teamwork helped BYU produce faster, more accurately budgeted courses—with simplified billing, immediate answers to cost and deadline requests, fewer follow-ups, and more time for creative work—while Enterprise’s unlimited projects and users let the department scale without escalating costs.
