Data Collection and Science in the Field with Teamup Calendar

ROMP Volunteer Group, a small group monitoring sea otters at the Elkhorn Slough Reserve, faced scheduling and coordination challenges as their team grew from 2 to over 20 volunteers. Their previous solution, a Google calendar, was prohibitive because it required members to create and log into a Google account. They needed a more accessible tool to manage their volunteer schedules and data collection, leading them to the vendor Teamup Calendar.

By implementing Teamup Calendar, the group gave volunteers autonomy to manage their own schedules via unique calendar links and the mobile app, significantly reducing the administrative workload. The solution's import feature allowed them to input 20 volunteer records in minutes, streamlining their data collection process. As a result, Teamup Calendar has helped the group efficiently collect over 1,500 hours of critical population and behavioral data on the Southern Sea Otter each year.
