The New Zealand Department of Conservation (DOC) faced the challenge of managing over 2.3 million documents stored in a system with poor search functionality, which hindered its mission and its ability to collaborate effectively with external conservation partners. To meet government mandates for open information and improve internal decision-making, DOC needed a modern, searchable document management system. They selected the ContentWorX Enterprise solution from vendor TEAM IM.

TEAM IM implemented a private cloud system based on Oracle WebCenter, which included integrated autoclassification software to make documents instantly searchable without manual filing. This solution made over two million documents accessible, leading to a 95% adoption rate among DOC staff. The new system also established a foundation for future expansion into public cloud services to facilitate secure external collaboration, directly supporting DOC's goal of empowering a broader conservation community.
