A TCP Software Case Study
Windham County Sheriff’s Department, a rural Vermont law enforcement agency with about 36 sworn officers and 5 civilian staff, struggled with a decentralized, paper- and Word-based scheduling process. The department needed a centralized, reliable way to manage fluid on-call coverage, per‑diem staffing, vacation and overtime while supervisors often worked remotely from cruisers. To address this, the department adopted Humanity, the employee scheduling solution provided by TCP Software.
TCP Software implemented Humanity as a centralized, real‑time scheduling platform that lets supervisors see fatigue, overtime risk and officer availability instantly, and lets deputies pick up shifts and submit leave requests themselves. The Humanity rollout eliminated unreadable, outdated schedules and reduced time spent on phone notifications and manual schedule revisions, improved allocation of shifts and coordination of cruiser movements (lowering fuel and related costs), and increased transparency and flexibility for both supervisors and deputies.
