UIC EMS Chicago - Customer Case Study

UIC EMS Chicago, the student-run Emergency Medical Services unit at the University of Illinois at Chicago, was growing quickly but still relied on paper punch cards for timekeeping and manual shift coordination. To modernize scheduling and better support both students and supervisors, UIC EMS Chicago turned to TCP Software and adopted the Humanity work scheduler to replace its legacy processes.

TCP Software implemented Humanity’s cloud-based scheduling, Time Clock with location-based clock-ins, a shared “wall” for announcements, one-click shift requests/approvals, and email/SMS notifications with 24/7 support. The change eliminated paper punch cards, enabled shift requests to be approved within moments, improved real-time communication and accurate time tracking, and freed supervisors to focus on operations rather than manual scheduling. TCP Software’s Humanity system delivered faster approvals, reliable attendance records, and smoother staffing as UIC EMS Chicago expanded.
