Mercer Island Thrift Shop - Customer Case Study

Mercer Island Thrift Shop is a nonprofit run by Mercer Island Youth and Family Services that relies on more than 150 part-time staff and a large volunteer corps. Scheduling had been managed in MS Excel, producing complex payroll calculations, manual daily job assignments, poor coverage in some areas, and difficulty accommodating volunteers across generations. To address this, Mercer Island Thrift Shop adopted TCP Software’s Humanity work scheduler.

TCP Software implemented Humanity to provide online scheduling, job assignment tools, and text/email shift reminders while offering non-digital options for older volunteers. The solution eliminated the manual step of writing daily assignments, gave managers a more accurate view of available staffing, improved communication, and is already reducing administrative effort and improving coverage — benefits Mercer Island Thrift Shop attributes directly to TCP Software’s Humanity.
