A TCP Software Case Study
Iowa State University Book Store, a long‑standing university retail operation serving faculty, staff and students, faced a complex scheduling challenge: roughly 26 full‑time, 85 part‑time and seasonal student employees with highly variable availability and high turnover. Their legacy tool, Scheduling Employees 2000, forced single‑user edits, heavy paper printing, and per‑employee scheduling rather than shift‑based planning. To modernize scheduling they turned to TCP Software and its Humanity work‑scheduler.
TCP Software implemented Humanity’s shift‑based scheduler with an employee view, enabling multiple schedulers to edit concurrently, mobile access for staff, real‑time notifications, and faster response to change requests. As a result, the Iowa State University Book Store reduced paper use, increased scheduler and supervisor engagement and flexibility (multiple users can update schedules simultaneously), improved employee visibility into shifts and coworkers, and benefited from TCP Software’s responsive support and product enhancements.
