Iowa State University Book Store, a long‑standing university retail operation serving faculty, staff and students, faced a complex scheduling challenge: roughly 26 full‑time, 85 part‑time and seasonal student employees with highly variable availability and high turnover. Their legacy tool, Scheduling Employees 2000, forced single‑user edits, heavy paper printing, and per‑employee scheduling rather than shift‑based planning.
