GE Energy builds 2.5kV, 2000A automated test systems with TBG Solutions

TBG Solutions was engaged by GE Energy to address the challenge of automating a high-voltage production test facility for its Voltage Source Converters. The requirement was to safely exercise these devices up to their operating limits of 2.5kV and 2000A, necessitating a highly adaptable and configurable system of sensors to test multiple units under extreme and dangerous conditions.

The solution implemented by TBG Solutions was a bespoke LabVIEW/TestStand PXI-based system. This automated production test system provided full control, data acquisition, and critical safety monitoring, safeguarding both the product and operators. TBG Solutions delivered a reconfigurable, expandable, and synchronized data logging network, resulting in a high-throughput, safe, and reliable test system for this demanding high-tech requirement.
