AGR Power Station prevents FPU damage with TBG Solutions’ winch load monitoring system

AGR Power Station needed a data logging system to monitor the loads on the three winches of its fuelling machine. The goal was to detect when a component called a neutron scatter plug (NSP) was released and dropped, which could cause significant damage. TBG Solutions was engaged to design this critical monitoring system.

TBG Solutions engineered a system using National Instruments Compact FieldPoint hardware to analyze load sensor data. The solution detects drops by comparing readings against set parameters, logs the event data for analysis, and raises an alarm. This allows AGR Power Station personnel to assess the damage and make maintenance decisions, preventing lost generation and a consequent loss of revenue.
