GLORIAD, the global “science Internet” connecting research and education communities across 15 countries, needed continuous growth in reach, bandwidth, and service sophistication to support rising data demands and high-reliability global collaboration. It also had to ensure congestion-free, worldwide connectivity for millions of users without the budget for backup circuits. Tata Communications provided the global network partner and services needed to address these challenges.

Tata Communications delivered global reach and reliability through its owned submarine and terrestrial network, supporting GLORIAD’s expansion with new capacity and routes, including the Taj Project and later upgrades such as a 1Gbps link from Hong Kong to Singapore, Bangalore, and Europe, plus a 100Mbps trial circuit into Africa. Tata Communications helped GLORIAD extend into India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, while maintaining an unblemished reliability record and enabling faster scientific collaboration on issues like medicine, climate change, and energy.
