When other channels flail, Grunt Style’s mobile app soars

Grunt Style, a fashion and apparel brand, partnered with Tapcart to build and manage a native mobile app for its mostly mobile-shopping customers. Although the app was easy to launch with Tapcart and Shopify, the team initially treated it as a simple storefront rather than a marketing channel, even as mobile commerce became increasingly important and other channels started to decline.

With Tapcart, Grunt Style turned the app into a core growth channel by using push notifications, in-app gift guides, featured new arrivals, deep links, and app-exclusive promotions. The results were strong: mobile app revenue increased 88%, in-app user retention reached 95.8% year over year, and sessions grew 176.5% year over year, making the app the brand’s top-performing marketing channel and driving 15–20% of total online revenue.
