The Oodie’s MER strategy: How adding a mobile app drove new revenue streams

The Oodie, a fashion and apparel brand best known for its wearable blankets, wanted a new channel to drive revenue as it expanded beyond a single-SKU business into adjacent product categories. The team needed a more efficient way to reach customers, encourage repeat purchases, and move shoppers into new categories without relying on more ad spend. They partnered with Tapcart to launch a mobile app.

Tapcart helped The Oodie launch its app in July 2023 with a lean rollout that included app-exclusive offers, early-access drops, SMS and email support, and a simple mobile web banner to drive downloads. The results were strong: the app surpassed 200,000 installs, delivered 134% higher conversion rate than the website, 37% higher AOV, and 193% higher gross merchandise value per session. Tapcart also helped The Oodie generate meaningful incremental growth, with 75% of app customers being net new and the app accounting for 19% of total revenue.
