Harbor Electronics - Customer Case Study

Harbor Electronics, a leading circuit board company, turned to Taos when it needed to move to a hosted infrastructure model with all employees working remotely. With only one week before its building lease expired, the company needed help virtualizing its on-premises domain controller and file server, while also providing virtual desktops for employees who relied on CAD tools for PCB design.

Taos created a proof of concept, then replicated Harbor Electronics’ office network in AWS using a virtual Meraki edge router/VPN appliance, EC2-based domain controller and file server, and AWS WorkSpaces. Taos also tested Power and Graphics WorkSpaces options to find the most cost-effective setup, resulting in a $230 monthly savings per remote user and workstation performance more than twice as powerful as the old on-premises systems, improving productivity and speeding up build times.
