A Tango Case Study
U.S. Customs and Border Protection faced a mandate to “freeze the footprint” and expand telework while reducing costly leased space; its Office of Administration occupied 14,000 sq. ft. with 83 assigned workstations and limited collaborative space. To eliminate wasted desks and enable a mobile, telework-first environment, CBP piloted a hoteling program and engaged vendor Tango, deploying Tango Reserve (AgilQuest’s OnBoard) to support desk and workspace reservations.
Tango implemented its cloud-hosted Tango Reserve reservation platform alongside a redesign that consolidated two floors into one 8,700 sq. ft. floor with 27 desks and flexible workspaces, plus telework policies. The results included a 38% reduction in space (14,000 → 8,700 sq. ft.), $287K in annual rent savings, 98% of employees reporting improved communication/collaboration, a 102% increase in productivity, per-employee commuting savings of over $600, and enabled a larger rollout that later achieved a 46% square-footage reduction and $3.3M annual savings.
