How Caleres levered Tango’s advanced analytics to prioritize development opportunities across the US

Caleres, the parent of Famous Footwear and other global brands, needed an analytical solution to prioritize store development, address market voids and shifting customer demographics. After evaluating providers, Caleres retained Tango to implement a site forecasting and market optimization model that combined departmental sales forecasting with eCommerce analytics.

Tango deployed market optimization modules, proprietary Smart Analogs, cannibalization and reverse‑cannibalization analysis, and mobile site‑evaluation tools, enabling Caleres to prioritize markets, better allocate capital, forecast department‑level volumes, and optimize merchandising and staffing. The work expanded Tango’s use across merchandising, operations and marketing, improved Caleres’ location decision‑making and targeting of ethnic markets, and established an ongoing partnership with Tango.
