HyperloopTT designs freight loading in 13.2 seconds with tangerine

HyperloopTT, a leading transportation technology company, partnered with the design firm tangerine to tackle the challenge of designing a rapid loading and unloading system for their HyperloopTT Express Freight capsule. The goal was to create a commercially viable freight system that is faster than trucks and cheaper than air transport, requiring a design that maximized speed and efficiency without compromising the capsule's structural integrity.

tangerine’s solution centered on an innovative up-and-over sliding door mechanism and a staggered door layout, which leveraged the capsule's rounded shape to maximize internal space. This design, integrated with a modified roller ball flooring system from Collins Aerospace, allowed for simultaneous loading and unloading in just 13.2 seconds. The work by tangerine contributed to the project's feasibility, which subsequently secured €800 million in funding to build the first commercial Hyperloop system in Northern Italy.
