Outsell Inc migrates 30k+ items and breaks vendor lock-in with Tandem

Outsell Inc faced a challenge when its Intelligence Platform was locked into a proprietary third-party vendor system, making it difficult to add features and troubleshoot issues. With the vendor's contract nearing expiration, Outsell needed to decide whether to renew the expensive agreement or find a new solution. The vendor Tandem was brought in to help break this vendor lock-in.

Tandem implemented a solution that replaced the vendor's two primary services. They substituted a complex Salesforce login with Auth0 for authentication and used the open-source DreamFactory API to expose Outsell's primary Postgres database. Working with Outsell's team, Tandem refactored the platform to pull data from this new API. As a result, Outsell seamlessly switched to its new self-owned system when the old contract expired, successfully migrating over 30,000 content items and eliminating third-party dependency.
