Alilaguna deploys WiFi on 26 boats with Tanaza

Alilaguna, a public water transport service in Venice, Italy, sought to innovate and improve its passengers' experience by offering free WiFi onboard its shuttle boats. Their challenge was to implement a reliable, high-performing WiFi network across their fleet to promote their touristic services and gather valuable customer insights. To meet this goal, they partnered with Tanaza and its Classic Hotspot platform.

Tanaza provided its Classic Hotspot solution, which enabled zero-touch deployment and centralized remote management of a multi-vendor access point network across 26 boats. The solution included a customizable captive portal for passenger authentication and promotional advertising, as well as analytics for gathering marketing data. As a result, Alilaguna successfully enhanced its service offering; from July to December 2019, the network facilitated over 129,000 connections from more than 11,800 unique users, effectively promoting tours and ticket sales directly through the WiFi splash page.
