TD Bank (Toronto‑Dominion Bank Group) is a top North American bank serving more than 25 million customers with over 80,000 employees. Facing a highly federated data environment that made 360° customer analytics and regulatory compliance difficult and costly, the bank set out to create a cloud‑based infrastructure to collect and analyze vast amounts of structured and unstructured customer data across channels.

TD built a cloud data lake and used Talend Big Data with a Cloudera Hadoop distribution to unify data, enable predictive modeling, and give hundreds of users on‑demand access to analytics. The solution simplified ETL, avoided $13 million in costs, cut storage/operation costs (about 50× cheaper per GB), accelerated delivery of customer‑centric services (like the MySpend app), and improved the bank’s ability to deliver personalized, timely experiences.
