Case Study: Office Depot achieves a unified 360° customer view and increased efficiency with Talend

A Talend Case Study

Preview of the Office Depot Case Study

Stitching together the customer journey across multiple touchpoints

Office Depot Europe, formed after AURELIUS acquired the company’s European operations, is a leading reseller of workplace products across 14 countries under the Office Depot and Viking brands. Facing market disruption and new competitors, the business struggled with siloed online and offline data (catalog, e‑commerce, call centers, ERP, fulfillment) that prevented an enterprise-wide customer, operations and finance view and limited its ability to run predictive analyses and test channel strategies.

To solve this, Office Depot implemented a three-tier Enterprise Data Hub—data lake, modeled data warehouse and data marts—using Talend (Data Integration and Data Quality) with Hortonworks Hadoop and Oracle to centralize, validate and integrate data. The initiative delivered a unified 360° customer view, faster development via reusable components and code generation, improved supply‑chain and finance insights, higher data trust and reduced total cost of ownership, with plans for self‑service analytics and stronger master data management.
