Newcastle University, a leading UK research-intensive institution serving about 17,000 matriculated students, faced mounting challenges in managing a large volume of institutional data for students, staff and library services. The university needed a cost-effective, scalable solution to provide real-time access, ensure data consistency across legacy systems, and meet the requirements of a national JISC trial that demanded seamless integration and accurate migration.

The university implemented Talend Data Integration, an open-source, enterprise-capable platform compatible with legacy systems that enabled rapid deployment, automated scheduling and multi-user development. As a result, Newcastle now runs over 60 data flows across 30 projects, has improved data quality and eliminated much human error, and can deliver up-to-date institutional information while freeing staff to focus on teaching.
