A Talend Case Study

Issuing accurate certificates and insurance policies quickly

The Shipowners’ Club, a mutual marine liability insurer serving more than 600 brokers and insuring over 32,000 vessels, needed to modernize its policy administration system. The project required migrating legacy policies and reconciling trading-certificate and CRM data held in separate systems that contained many duplicates and inconsistent field values (for example “Singapore” vs “Republic of Singapore”), which hindered reporting and delayed accurate certificate and policy issuance.

Working with partner ADROSONIC, the Club implemented Talend Cloud with Data Quality to cleanse, standardize and migrate records. ADROSONIC migrated 17,333 PDF trading certificates to a new SQL system and cleansed and migrated about 34,000 address records; certificate viewing time dropped from one day to real time (0 s). The standardized data improved reporting accuracy, sped up policy issuance and customer service, and positioned the Club to automate further underwriting tasks.
