Case Study: Regional Council of Languedoc-Roussillon achieves unified visibility for elected leaders and faster decision-making with Talend

Giving elected leaders a clear view of the goings-on of the region

The Regional Council of Languedoc-Roussillon, the French regional authority responsible for economic development, education, transport and public services for over 2.5 million residents, needed to give elected leaders clear, timely visibility into project progress and regional performance. Its BI initiative required consolidating data from many business applications, but an increasingly complex point-to-point integration landscape made reporting, maintenance and scalability difficult.

The council implemented Talend Data Integration (after trials with Talend Open Studio) to consolidate data from 24 heterogeneous systems into a data warehouse, operating about 1,100 automated data flows and enabling more than 5,000 BusinessObjects reports. The solution simplified maintenance, reduced development time and costs, improved scalability and data quality, freed staff to focus on strategic economic projects, and set the stage for further automation with Talend ESB.
