Case Study: GE Healthcare achieves faster claims turnaround and scalable EDI processing with Talend Data Services/ESB

A Talend Case Study

Preview of the GE Healthcare Case Study

Discovering new life for claim data

GE Healthcare’s EDI Services group manages B2B electronic healthcare transactions at massive scale—about 1 billion transactions per year across claims, remits and eligibility—and faced a pressing challenge when their legacy eGate integration engine was declared end-of-life. The team needed a replacement that would preserve existing architecture, meet strict SLAs and certifications (e.g., CAQH CORE turnaround targets and a 24‑hour claim acknowledgment SLA), and avoid disruption to customers.

They selected Talend Data Services/ESB with Talend Data Mapper and engaged Talend Professional Services for hands‑on training and design support. Using a phased dual‑run enablement approach, GE migrated customers smoothly to Talend, maintained and exceeded SLA/compliance targets, and supported X12 and proprietary formats. The data center now handles peak volumes of ~40,000 transactions/hour with a roadmap toward 80,000/hr, and is on track to bring 126 payers onto the new platform, improving processing speed and scalability.
