Case Study: Accor achieves GDPR-compliant customer data governance and cuts access-request time from 30 to 5 days with Talend

A Talend Case Study

Preview of the Accor Case Study

Creating a company culture where the respect of personal data is top priority

Accor, a global leader in hospitality with 5,000 hotels and 50 million loyalty members, faced the challenge of integrating vast, decentralized customer data—about 300 GB per day across 50 data flows and 11 business areas plus partner sources—while protecting sensitive information and meeting GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability). The company needed consistent data governance and traceability to reduce regulatory and reputational risk as it scaled personalized “Augmented Hospitality.”

Accor deployed Talend (Big Data and Talend Data Catalog) with an AWS data lake and Snowflake warehouse to catalog data, establish lineage, and standardize governance; Talend Professional Services implemented the solution in four months. The result: search time for GDPR right-to-access requests fell from 30 days to 5 days, improved transparency and trust, a 12% rise in Accor Elite customer satisfaction, and business gains such as a reported ~10% sales boost at budget hotels.
