Case Study: XING achieves near‑real‑time marketing analytics and processes up to 50 million events per day with Talend

A Talend Case Study

Preview of the Xing Case Study

Connecting systems for a better business networking

XING, the leading professional social network in German-speaking countries with more than 15 million members, needed to handle a high-volume, time-sensitive event stream for marketing and analytics. Legacy scripted integrations made it hard to track metadata, process thousands of small Avro files (from systems like Braze on S3), and deliver near-real-time data to analysts while meeting GDPR and governance requirements. XING also wanted to reduce complexity so less-technical stakeholders could manage integrations.

Using Talend Big Data (with implementation support from cimt ag), XING built a pipeline that integrates MapR-DB with an Exasol analytics warehouse, leverages Apache Drill to read many Avro files efficiently, and converts/feeds only relevant columns into Exasol. The solution processes about 2 million events per hour (peaking at 50 million per day), makes data available within 10 minutes, improves KPI-driven reporting and campaign analytics, lowers maintenance costs, and centralizes metadata to support GDPR compliance.
