A Talend Case Study
Calor Gas, the UK’s leading LPG supplier and part of the SHV Energy group, faced intense competition and regulatory change that capped domestic contracts at two years, increasing churn risk. With over 100,000 domestic customers and largely uniform engagement, the company needed better customer insight and segmentation to cut churn, improve retention and grow lifetime value.
Working with partner Datalytyx and using Talend Data Fabric on a Microsoft Azure HDInsight data lake, Calor built a Customer 360 program to operationalize data, run weekly churn/value/segment algorithms and feed customer‑facing systems. The outcome: 50% faster data ingestion into the cloud, more personalized service for 100,000 customers, an expected ROI within 12–18 months, and measurable reductions in churn with increased revenue retention.
