A Talend Case Study
The Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transportation and Housing (MEDDE) needed to industrialize its business intelligence across many domains—especially housing and land planning—while supporting distributed development teams spread across France. Its IT center (CPII) faced limitations with the legacy Sunopsis ETL: it was hard to scale, did not support a multi‑project, remote workflow, and struggled to process very large datasets such as records for 4.5 million homes.
MEDDE adopted Talend Data Integration (with Talend Open Studio for local development) to provide a single shared repository, faster remote response, and compatibility between open‑source and commercial environments. Talend now supports 15 BI projects (six in production), about 30 developers across eight regional locations, and key initiatives like the RPLS housing dashboards and the Geokit municipal database. The result: industrialized BI processes, improved collaboration and performance, no additional training costs, better handling of large data volumes, and enhanced reporting and self‑service for departmental and municipal stakeholders.
