Case Study: Zego achieves reliable secure access for DevOps with Tailscale

A Tailscale Case Study

Preview of the Zego Case Study

Zego - Customer Case Study

Zego, a UK vehicle insurance provider for gig economy workers, grew rapidly to more than 600 employees and struggled to keep remote access reliable as the company shifted to fully remote work during the pandemic. Its existing OpenVPN setup was difficult to manage and troubleshoot, so Zego started looking for a simpler, more dependable VPN solution; Tailscale was a strong fit, especially given its WireGuard-based architecture.

Tailscale replaced Zego’s home-brewed VPN effort and became the company’s daily-driver access tool for engineers. Using Tailscale subnet routers, SSO, and 2FA, Zego securely connects employees to private AWS VPCs and Kubernetes-based infrastructure without exposing services publicly, while also improving collaboration between developers on the same running codebase. The result was faster, easier-to-manage remote access and a major reduction in VPN complexity for Zego’s IT and systems engineering teams.
