Case Study: YugaByte achieves secure, frictionless team access to distributed environments with Tailscale

A Tailscale Case Study

Preview of the YugaByte Case Study

Yugabyte uses Tailscale to quickly and securely connect its support and field teams everywhere

Yugabyte, a company that develops YugabyteDB, a globally distributed SQL database, needed a fast and secure way for its support and field engineering teams to access many transient customer-like test environments. Before Tailscale, sharing access meant coordinating IP allowlists, firewall changes, and temporary SSH credentials, creating delays and extra security overhead.

With Tailscale, Yugabyte created a “bubble” of shared environments by installing the service on relevant nodes and using its Tailnet, ACLs, and ACL tags to control access by team. Tailscale made it easy to provision secure access for demos, debugging, and field implementations without exposing systems to the public internet, reducing IT busywork and making access nearly frictionless.
