A Taggstar Case Study
Wickes, the UK home improvement retailer, wanted to help online customers quickly find products, make decisions, and complete purchases with more confidence as its digital audience grew. It worked with Taggstar to test whether social proof messaging could improve the online experience and support conversion, using a 30-day A/B test to evaluate the impact.
Taggstar implemented six types of social proof, including popular and trending item messages, recent purchase indicators, current viewer counts, basket activity, and personalized messages, all integrated via Google Tag Manager and tailored to Wickes’ brand tone. The results were immediate and positive, with half of site visitors seeing the messages, stronger customer engagement and confidence, and a later two-month evaluation showing additional positive results, including increased sales among the A/B test group; Wickes then rolled Taggstar out across key areas of the site, generating 100+ million messages per month.
