Matalan, a leading omni-channel fashion and homeware retailer, wanted to improve conversion across its online customer journey as its eCommerce channel grew. The company looked to Taggstar’s social proof messaging to help shoppers make more informed purchase decisions and support its broader online optimisation efforts.

Taggstar implemented social proof messages across Matalan’s product detail and product list pages, including audience, add to basket, purchase volume, trending, and “Going Fast” messaging, integrated via Google Tag Manager and tested with Maxymiser. The results were strong: the first A/B test delivered a 5.5% conversion uplift, rising to 6.98% after expanding to product list pages, and a later festive update with emojis produced an additional 1.44% uplift across devices, 1.87% on mobile.
