A Tacton Case Study
Siemens Energy, a global energy technology company operating in 90 countries with about 98,000 employees, faced a major quoting challenge: its highly customized gas and steam turbines (the air intake alone has 120 variants) required specialist engineers to produce 500‑page proposals that took up to eight weeks. The combinatorial complexity made configuration and quote production slow, error-prone, and costly.
Siemens implemented the Tacton Configurator to standardize assemblies and simplify product architecture (reducing thousands of business rules to a few hundred). Sales reps can now configure and price turbines during customer meetings, generating complete budget offers in about five minutes, cutting engineering involvement to only the most complex cases, shortening sales cycles, and increasing after‑sales service opportunities.
