Zattoo, an internet TV and streaming provider with apps across mobile and big‑screen devices, needed to better understand customer behavior and business KPIs — churn, retention, monthly active users, most‑watched content by age/gender, channel popularity by time, and marketing funnel/campaign effectiveness. Their prior process involved pulling data from Hadoop into Excel and R, which was slow and error‑prone.

By connecting Tableau to their Vertica data warehouse (aggregating Hadoop, Google Analytics and Adjust campaign data), Zattoo built interactive dashboards for marketing, product and management. The result: fast, intuitive exploration of KPIs and campaign funnels, daily use by executives, much higher user satisfaction, and significantly reduced time to insight compared with the old Excel/R workflows.
