YIT, Finland’s largest construction company with ~€3.8B revenue and over 10,000 employees across 11 countries, faced a major analytics bottleneck: before a 2016 IT restructure all reporting ran through a central competence centre, limiting flexibility and slowing decision-making as the company moved to become more data-driven.

YIT implemented an Azure cloud data warehouse and adopted Tableau as its primary analytics platform, with Tableau Prep to clean and merge complex datasets (notably during the 2018 Lemminkäinen merger). The change enabled hundreds of employees to self-serve analytics, created a single source of truth and consistent reporting, sped up merger reporting and routine analysis, and saved significant time and cost while fostering a company-wide data-driven culture.
