Preview of the World Food Programme Case Study

World Food Programme scales by 12x in 24 months with Tableau Blueprint

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), which provided assistance to 91.4 million people in 83 countries last year, saw rapid internal uptake of Tableau from its VAM analytics unit to more than 3,000 users. That growth led to a 12x increase in published content over 24 months, creating poor discoverability, duplicated data sources, and a rising volume of support tickets—prompting the need for formal governance, clearer roles, and better content management.

WFP adopted Tableau Blueprint to guide a “server reboot,” create a sandbox for staging and certification, and establish a Tableau Champions Group and targeted trainings. Blueprint helped define governance, identify a new headcount for server oversight, improve data quality and content certification, and boost user engagement. The result is stronger content governance, fewer duplicates, clearer access to trusted data, and a more scalable, organization-wide data culture ready for a new data strategy.
