The University of the Incarnate Word’s Institutional Research office, led by Robin Logan, needed to turn complex, voluminous data—from applications and enrollment to graduation and large survey results—into timely, actionable information for registrars, admissions, deans and student success teams. The team faced frequent ad‑hoc requests and the challenge of delivering customized reports that stakeholders could use immediately to inform decisions and interventions.

By adopting Tableau, the IR team automated refreshable reports and built self‑service dashboards, reshaped survey data with parameters for custom question lists, and created a daily retention dashboard linking enrollment and retention files with student-level filters. The result: faster responses to requests, major time savings for IR and campus leaders, more targeted interventions by student success teams, and widespread positive uptake across campus.
