UKY upskills and certifies students for modern career opportunities with Tableau

The University of Kentucky needed to better prepare business and accounting students for today’s job market after recruiters reported that graduates lacked basic data skills. To close that gap, the university turned to Tableau Software and made Tableau a central part of a new data analytics curriculum designed to build confidence and workplace readiness.

Tableau Software helped UKY launch the program in just 18 months, expanding from a short module to courses across the business school and beyond, with more than 500 students per semester in introductory analytics classes. UKY also introduced a Data Analytics minor and integrated Tableau into graduate programs; over 80% of students in the visualization classes took the Tableau Desktop Specialist certification, most passed, and recruiters began noticing “Tableau” and “data visualization” more often on resumes.
