Tableau enables real.digital to bring data based decision-making to every workplace

real.digital, operator of the real.de marketplace with over 5,000 merchants and 15 million products, faced scaling limits on its SQL- and spreadsheet-based reporting as data volumes grew. Daily manual processes—most notably a 440 million‑row, 800 GB customer‑service dataset—required 60–90 minutes of staff time and were error‑prone, so the company needed a self‑service analytics solution to support growth, improve profitability and streamline operations.

In November 2018 real.digital rolled out Tableau company‑wide after a tool evaluation, buying a Tableau Server and 100 Creator licenses and providing enablement training, while consolidating data in Google BigQuery and establishing “Tableau lighthouse” power users and standards. The result: real‑time dashboards that eliminated the 60–90 minute daily reporting task, reduced dependence on centralized report creation, delivered new business insights across departments and increased data literacy and autonomy among employees.
