Spil Games Enables 500% ROI, Cuts Week from Reporting Timeline

Spil Games, a Netherlands-based publisher reaching more than 100 million monthly mobile users, struggled to get timely answers from a “goldmine” of fragmented data: hundreds of integrated sources, a 35 TB HP Vertica EDW with billions of clickstream rows, and slow, siloed dashboards that could take a week and dozens of clicks to update. The company needed a faster, self-service way to build dashboards and drive daily data-driven decisions across analytics, marketing, publishing and engineering.

By adopting Tableau (Server and Desktop) on top of their Vertica EDW and using extracted datasets for performance, Spil Games rolled out managed self-service BI—about 25 desktop users and 150 workbooks—so teams can drag, drop and get answers in minutes. The change cut reporting time from one week to 15 minutes, revealed optimization opportunities that delivered a 500% ROI on search advertising, and enabled near-real-time insights to improve the gaming experience.
