SpareBank 1 Forsikring, the insurance arm of Norway’s SpareBank 1 banking alliance, was grappling with thin margins, increasing competition and a slow, static reporting process that left decision makers waiting days or weeks for ad hoc analysis and required repeated reformatting across member banks. The company needed faster, more flexible insight into customers, products, agents and risk to improve pricing, cross-sell and compliance.

SpareBank 1 deployed Tableau (with implementation support from partner RAV) to give 70+ users self-service visual analytics. Reports and answers that once took days or weeks now appear in minutes (pricing reports went from five days to 30 minutes), enabling rapid pricing and marketing changes, detection of profitable segments (e.g., young drivers), reduced fraud/“fronting,” and a forecasted revenue uplift of about $40 million over three years.
