SatSure creates visualisation to reduce the risk of food shortages in the wake of COVID-19

SatSure, a specialist in satellite remote sensing and big data analytics, responded to COVID-19 disruptions that threatened India’s agricultural supply chains and raised the risk of food shortages. With local markets, transport and storage largely shut down, farmers needed new ways to find buyers and logistics support quickly.

SatSure teamed with Numer8, KrishiHub and ThinkAg to build the non‑commercial Essential Supplies Exchange — a searchable Tableau map that plots public and crowd‑sourced listings (via a simple Google Form) of farmers, buyers, transport, storage and agri‑machinery services. The platform has enabled real transactions (for example, a driver found to move 50 tonnes of tomatoes and timely delivery of fresh fish), reduced waste, and provides a single source of data useful for government response and forward planning.
