Region Midtjylland (Region Midt) provides healthcare across six hospitals for 1.3 million citizens in central Denmark and needed to unify scattered data from warehouses, Excel and other silos to run a modern healthcare organisation. With limited visibility into treatments and patient flows, leaders faced urgent challenges such as high drug wastage and long referral waits that were harming patient experience and driving up costs.

Region Midt standardized on a consolidated SQL Server warehouse and Tableau for self-service analytics used by more than 2,500 staff, giving clinicians and managers timely, visual dashboards. By surfacing antibiotic administration patterns they dramatically cut unnecessary prescriptions and medicine costs, and shortened referral wait performance from 60% to 90% of patients seen within 30 days. The platform also automated reporting, saved staff time and fostered an internal data-driven community that improved decision-making and patient care.
