Patent Information Promotion Center unleashes statistical data in Tableau

Patent Information Promotion Center (PIPC) is a public organization that supports the Korean Intellectual Property Office by analyzing patent data and advising companies on competitive landscapes. Faced with rapidly growing demand, limited IT resources and a manual Excel-based workflow, PIPC struggled to produce high-quality, timely analyses and needed a governed, secure self-service solution that would let analysts and customers collaborate more effectively.

PIPC implemented Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server, using R integration and connections to Access, SQL Server, Excel and JSON to streamline analysis and securely share workbooks. The change eliminated repetitive rebuilding of reports, enabled self-service exploration, improved data quality and cut average reporting time from 12 hours to about 5 minutes—freeing staff to focus on deeper analysis and new opportunities.
